Hi
If I were told to describe myself in one sentence, I would say, ‘A developer with a computer science background craves blending aesthetics into software.’ But the word ‘Engineer’ feels more fascinating to me. Once I can land a true engineering role where I will be a part of designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale software with computer science knowledge, I might then choose the word ‘Engineer’ over ‘Developer.
Experience & Learning
I had the opportunity to work with a world-class team at OpenSauced, focusing on the front-end development of their in-house software. During my time there, I gained invaluable experiences including teamwork, coding best practices, and agile development methodologies. From my front-line position in the company's early stages, I witnessed its growth firsthand. The company later secured millions in funding and joined the prestigious Linux Foundation.
Career Path & Vision
Everyone loves to build stuff, and so do I. But what I explicitly want is to make it sustainable and scaleable. Designing scalable and sustainable architectures requires hands-on experience in building multiple large-scale software, paired with the knowledge of computer science.
I am currently working on a project that will help me achieve my vision. I am building a platform that will help developers to create, manage, and deploy their projects with ease. The platform will be open-source and will be free for everyone to use.
Once I have enough experience (e.g., 5y), and if I get the opportunity to work for a Big Sass company, I might consider the Design Engineer or DevEx role since these types of roles blend my passion (aesthetics) and expertise (development).
Open-source Community & Giving Back
Building amazing software has become easier thanks to open-source software and its community. Even leading companies rely on the tools and libraries created by the open-source community. As developers, we are reaping the best benefits from it. I am truly grateful to the community. Now, as I feel a sense of responsibility, I want to give back by building open-source tools, libraries, and software.
